Something evil happened 12 years ago

January 20, 2010

Yesterday was Buffy’s 29th birthday and until I got on Twitter this morning I’d forgotten the anniversary of another important Whedon even: the loseing of Buffy’s virginity and the arrival of Angelus.
He was mean, he was evil, he was cunning and he was Angel’s leather pants wearing alter-ego, who just had to show up right after he took Buffy’s virginity. On her 17th birthday. Ouch. Poor Buffy, your birthdays just keep getting worse and worse don’t they?
The tragic tale is about a lose of innocence and haveing to make hard decisions that come with the territory of becoming a grown-up. The saga took place in the second half of Buffy’s second season and ended the same way it started, with a two part episode. The episodes we’re looking at are ‘Surprise’, ‘Innocence’, ‘Becoming part 1’, and ‘Becoming part 2’ with some good fight scenes and one liners inbetween. It was one heck of a story line even now 12 years after it was originally done.
The moral of this story? If you’re going to have sex you have to be ready to deal with the consequences. And always make sure you know what your Gypsy curse is entitled of.
And don’t have sex if your boyfriend has a Gypsy curse on him just too be safe.
